While I’m not about to nuke this game from orbit, after logging just under 30 hours in game and obtaining 100% completion, SGW3 was just an incredibly middle-of-the-road and kind of forgettable FPS game. After doing a bit more research, while there were a few reviews that were largely unfavourable towards the game, the majority of the reception to Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 was just “meh”. I’m normally not too bothered about playing sequential games out of order, unless we’re talking about a franchise like Mass Effect or something comparable. You’re rewarded experience points for sniping, stealth, and ordinary combat, but not only is the stealth and gunplay incredibly basic and unengaging but the upgrades you get as a result are disappointingly undesirable.Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 was my introduction to both CI Games and the Sniper Ghost Warrior IP. The crafting system is rendered pointless by how easy all the resources are to collect, and the three-lane skill tree is just a bad idea all round. Ignoring the issues created by the open world, the other problem is what happens every time you’re forced to do something that isn’t sniping. Restarting a mission can take the best part of 30 seconds too, and given what the game’s like this never feels like it’s worth the wait. It can take a full five minutes for the game to load, and we are not exaggerating that in any way. The frame rate is terrible, the lighting system makes it look like something out of a PlayStation 2 game, and the load times are hilariously awful. It might not be bursting with exciting mysteries, but the low tech, miserable-looking game world is filled with the series’ typically voluminous collection of bugs and glitches.
